Circa 1960s | Wood, resin, fabric
Clean, curving creations such as glass-topped walnut tables made Adrian Pearsall and his firms (Craft Associates and later Comfort Designs) leaders in popular American furniture design from the 1950s into the 1970s. These Brutalist chairs are reminscent of the abstract, artistic, sculpted furniture of Paul Evans, another designer working in the same style. The chairs are formed of sculpted bronze resin (referred to as “Goop”) over a molded plywood form, and archivally reupholstered in a lustrous apricot-toned velvet from the noted Italian fabric house Dedar.
