2022 | Stoneware, bronze
A ceramics artist based in Brooklyn, New York, Peter Lane uses hand-wrought techniques to capture the rough-hewn essence of his concepts. His results range from large-scale architectural installations and monumental furniture to decorative works. This table, with its Brutalist look — raw clay; crusty edges; bronze, seemingly patinaed finish — has been custom designed and crafted exclusively for this
exposition. The piece gives the appearance of metal rather than ceramic, and reacts intriguingly to ambient light. Its triangular shards seem to freeze some moment of violent motion: like bolts of lightning or exploding icebergs.
