Circa 1972-1982 | glass
From the 1920's Riihimäki Glassworks started to pay more attention to the design side of glass production. The Carmen vase was designed by Tamara Aladin in 1972 and manufactured by Riihimäki Glass. Aladin was employed by Riihimäki Glassworks from 1959 to 1976, during which time she designed almost 150 glass designs for the factory's collection. The bold use of color and the unique style of her work developed to be her trademark. In addition to household glassware and art glass, Aladin specialized in the design of vases. The glass vase can also be used as a candle holder by turning it upside down. Model 1964 of the Carmen series was in production at the Riihimäki glass factory between 1972 and 1981, and was manufactured in three different sizes.
